We sat down with resident Home Loan Specialist, Stuart Holthouse, to learn about his role and how he helps Browns Plains locals buy their own home.

Q: Tell us a little about your career and experience as a Home Loan Specialist.

I’ve been a career banker for a total of 42 years. I started my career as a teller and worked my way through various positions, culminating with business banking and relationship manager roles.

Q: Why are you passionate about helping Browns Plains locals buy property?

Browns Plains locals are passionate about their community, their families, and their homes. I interact with local customers every day and make myself available to help them achieve their goal of owning their own home. Be it their first home, or their forever home. I am passionate about supporting customers through the home loan application process and can offer advice for those looking to get into the market. Just here to help Aussie dreams come true!

Q: What’s one key piece of advice you’d give to a client looking to buy their first home?

Take small steps, set achievable goals, and don’t be afraid to enter the market when you can. It can be a daunting process, but we can help you navigate it.

Q: What do you enjoy about working as part of the Grand Plaza community?

I love the environment of the shopping centre, and the buzz of the considerable amount of walk by traffic that we see here at Great Southern Bank.

Q: Tell us about a standout memory with one of your customers.

I’ve always worked with a ‘treat people as you would have them treat you’ mentality. Respect and value are important in every customer interaction, and I live by this in my day-to-day work. One memory that stands out, was the pure excitement from a client when I was able to provide a reduction in their interest rate, given the current environment, they were elated and the look on their face said it all! I like little moments like this.

Q: What is something about yourself that people might not know?

I am a motorcycle enthusiast and my role prior to joining Great Southern Bank was as a postman working for Australia Post for a year!
